Apple to preview iPhone OS 4.0 on Thursday

Tuesday, 6 April 2010

Apple has sent out invites to media outlets inviting them to get a sneak peak into the future of iPhone OS on Thursday 8th April 2010 at 10am PT (6pm BST) at the Apple campus in California.

Apple's secrecy means that at the moment we know nothing about what will be revealed in the new version of the iPhone operating system.

However, rumours across the web are hinting or hoping for multitasking capability, allowing users to run multiple applications at the same time. One rumour suggests that this multitasking will feature an Exposé function like that in Mac OS X. This would allow users to switch between running applications in a visual and easy way.

Other rumours suggest that there will be a global email inbox, allowing users with more than one email account to view all their emails from all accounts in one inbox. And there are rumours generated from a patent application, showing the ability to add contacts to the homescreen.

Will any of these rumours turn out to be true? And will Apple surprise us all with something brand new? We will have to wait till Thursday. Check back here after the event where we will have a report on it.
