The C905 is a great phone, and very recognisably a Sony Ericsson, with its square and curved appearance. It certainly looks the part, if not just a tad hefty, especially seeing as it’s a slide phone, and they’re usually a little thinner than most. Despite this, it is undoubtedly a very good phone, and is at the forefront of the latest camera phone advances.

It boasts an incredible 8.1 megapixel camera, which puts it closer to most mid-range digital cameras, let alone mobile phones. This is the first of Sony Ericsson’s cybershot phones to have such a camera, and with the added advantages of a xenon flash (much more powerful than a standard LED flash and used on standard digital cameras), image stabilising technology, face detection and red-eye reduction, this phone is really selling itself on its photographic potential.

This phone also comes with GPS, meaning it can be used as a satellite navigation as well. It also features a fully functional media player system, this isn’t one of the walkman phones, but it is still a particularly good music player. The built in memory of the phone isn’t huge, 160mb, but this, as with most phones can be rectified with a memory card, up to 8gb can be supported.

For all its good points, this phone isn’t perfect, the keypad can be a bit tricky, and it has a poor battery life, it’s also missing the video call option that so many phones have these days, which is a shame. With everything taken into account, this is still a pretty smart phone, and for most the plusses definitely outweigh the negatives. This is certainly a very good phone.

Summary:

  • Good Points: Definitely the fantastic 8.1 megapixel camera, decent music player.
  • Bad Points: Poor battery life and a tricky keypad let it down somewhat.
  • Others to Consider: Nokia N96, Samsung U900 Soul, LG KC780.
  • Free on Contract with: Vodafone & 3.
