Nokia E71 Review
Nokia E71
User Rating: The E71 is a smartphone aimed at closing in on Blackberry’s hold on the business/organiser phone market, and it’s arguably the closest Nokia have come yet. With a fully laid out Qwerty keyboard and one touch keys for home, calendar, contacts and email, it’s simply laid out and functional as one would expect. It features GPS Sat-nav, and excellent internet connectivity, essential for sending emails, and of course receiving them, and it is equipped to display most websites correctly. It even possesses Wlan for making VoIP calls, if that is indeed something you need to do.
With all these features, you would expect the battery life to pretty poor, yet it is surprisingly good, except when using the Wlan feature, which does drain the battery somewhat; however, if you don’t use that then this phone will go for a few days without charging.
Let us not forget that on top of all these ideal business and organisation solutions, it actually contains pretty decent standard mobile fare; a 3.2 megapixel camera, and a good quality mp3 player. With just 110mb of in-built memory, it doesn’t have as much as the BlackBerry’s 1gb, but with a microSD memory card, the memory can be raised to 8gb.
If you’re the sort of person who needs to, or just enjoys, organising their life, then don’t automatically go for the BlackBerry, because the E71 is a very competent competitor.
Summary:
- Good Points: Smaller than a BlackBerry, so more comfortable to hold, relatively simple to use, and very good battery life.
- Bad Points: The disappointing amounts of in-built memory, but that is easily rectified.
- Others to Consider: BlackBerry Bold, Apple iPhone.
- Free on contract with: Vodafone & 3.
