In this time of hi-tech, touchscreen mobile phones, Nokia have decided to go back to basics with this new 6700 Classic hand-set; simple, easy-to-use phones have become something that Nokia are renowned for, this phone is no exception.

As expected, the 6700 Classic is exceptionally user-friendly, and it looks nice too, with a neat chrome finish to the back, much in the style of the iPhone, and the simple layout synonymous with Nokias. The buttons are touch sensitive, but can be a little unresponsive if you’re a speed texter. The rest should be familiar to the seasoned Nokia user.

It has 170mb of built-in memory, which isn’t massive but it comes with a 1gb microSD card provided, so, not as much as some phones, but still plenty of memory.

It has a very good HSDPA feature, which allows for very quick uploads and downloads of information; it also features that must-have feature, the built-in GPS. Unfortunately, by modern standards, the lack of any Wi-Fi is somewhat of a letdown.

The camera is 5 megapixels, and decent in well-lit areas only due to its poor LED flash, and the operating buttons are somewhat fiddly too, so overall, the camera is let down a little bit.

In today’s market, this is nothing exceptional, but if you need a phone for phoning and texting, then this is sleek and sophisticated, and will do the job willingly.

Summary:

  • Good Points: It is really very easy to use.
  • Bad Points: Not having a Wi-Fi feature and the poor layout of the camera operation let it down.
  • Others to Consider: Nokia 6600 Slide, Sony Ericsson W715.
  • Free on Contract with: Orange, 3, T-Mobile & O2.
