The 6600 Slide, is unsurprisingly a slide phone (it’s in the name after all), and follows Nokia’s long-held traditions of easy to use, attractive, dependable phones. It features a 16 million colour OLED screen at 2.2 inches which frankly is very decent. All in all, it’s actually a very attractive phone, minus the inevitable fingerprint marks that will eventually cover it.

It contains a decent enough 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus, which is always a desirable addition for those who enjoy taking photos, it’s not the best camera phone available but it is certainly good enough for most peoples photography needs. The mp3 capabilities are again, sufficient for most peoples needs; however, the in-built memory of just a pathetic 20mb is a disappointment. Having said that, Nokia provide a 512mb memory card as standard, and it can be upgraded to as much as a fantastic 16gb with a further microSD memory card.

There have been a few grumblings about its battery life which isn’t exactly amazing, needing to be charged every other day, and with a speaker placed at the back of the phone, it can be a little difficult to hear in noisier environments. If, however it goes off in a quieter place then it can be silenced with a mere tap, which is a redeeming factor.

Overall, this phone is a pretty competent phone, and at mid-range price it is ideal for the less snazzy in the crowd, if you need an easy to use phone without some of the fancier trimmings, you couldn’t go too far wrong with this neat looking phone.

Summary:

  • Good Points: Attractive, easy to use, and reliable.
  • Bad Points: Battery Life is less than ideal.
  • Others to Consider: Nokia N85, Sony Ericsson W995, Samsung Steel.
  • Free on contract with: O2, Orange, T-Mobile & 3.
