The BL20 is another new Black Label Chocolate phone from LG. The design is close to the original Chocolate series of phones with a slide out keypad.

Following the BL40, the smooth finish makes this phone elegant and highly attractive. But it is very prone to fingerprints and smudges.

It features a touch panel just below the screen with hidden buttons which light up when the phone is on. These buttons are very responsive, easy to use and adds a unique quality to the device. There is also a side touch control for volume and camera. Whilst a nice idea this does not seem very responsive and could be improved. The phone looks and feels well built and strong, though is a bit long and top heavy when extended.

The user interface is bright and colourful. It is responsive, enjoyable and easy to use.

The 5 megapixel auto focus camera has a Schneider – Kreuznach lens and produces good quality photos. Browsing the web is not the best experience on the small screen and having to use the keypad to type in the address. A lack of WiFi connectivity on the phones means having to use 3G or Edge for data connection which can be slow.

This is another fashion phone; more has been put into the looks than into the functionality. Back to the basics of mobile phones, it is good for texting, making calls and taking photos but in style.

Summary:

  • Good Points: Looks great, responsive touch buttons
  • Bad Points: No WiFi
  • Others to Consider: Nokia 6700 Classic
