The 9500 Storm is just the latest phone in BlackBerry’s exceptional organiser phones repertoire. BlackBerrys have been considered bulky and unattractive in the past, regardless of their usefulness. This phone bridges the gap, as useful as any of its predecessors, whilst being as sleek and attractive as any of the touchscreen phones available right now.

The Storm has a very decent 3.25 inch screen, with a luxury 360x480 pixel screen. The touchscreen interface is easy to use and makes use of some nice features to add to its usability; the accelerometer means that the screen is very responsive to your touch, and moving around the various applications is effortless, and the auto-rotate feature allows for an easy switch from portrait to landscape when viewing websites, photos or videos; and viewing websites is even better with the built-in HTML web browser.

This phone also has an exceptional built-in memory of 1gb, with the standard option of moving up to 8gb with a microSD card. As an organiser phone, it’s to be expected that it should have good memory, but 1gb of in-built memory is pretty outstanding. On top of all these nice features, it contains all the standards as well; GPS, a good music player compatible with all major formats, and a video player, also compatible with all major formats. However, it does have a slightly disappointing 3.2 megapixel camera, albeit with a flash and autofocus, but chances are that those who buy this phone won’t be too bothered by its camera.

Summary:

  • Good Points: The easy to use interface and the fantastic memory.
  • Bad Points: A slightly disappointing camera.
  • Others to Consider: Apple iPhone, BlackBerry Bold.
  • Free on Contract with: Vodafone.
