Apple iPad 2 announced with release date

Apple has launched its second iPad, the iPad 2. It was announced by Apple CEO Steve Jobs, who took time off from his medical leave to present the event.

The iPad 2 has been improved in many ways, first up is the design, it is thinner and lighter. It is only 8.8mm thick which is thinner than the iPhone 4. But even though it is thinner it still packs a rather impressive set of features.

It has a new processor, the Apple A5 which adds a 1GHz dual core to the iPad 2, giving it incredible speed and performance. Also added are two cameras, one front facing and one rear facing for FaceTime calls, so now you can call iPad 2s from your iPhone 4s and Macs and iPod Touches. Another feature added from the iPhone 4 is a gyroscope.
