Android is UK's leading smartphone platform
Monday, 4 April 2011According to a recent survey of 2,001 people in the UK, 28% of users now have Android mobile phones, making Android the leading smartphone platform in the UK, ahead of Apple's iPhone.
Apple was not far behind with 26% using its mobile phones, while 14% were using BlackBerry. Symbian on Nokia phones got 6% and Microsoft Windows phone 5%.
So the results are in, but we have a few queries with the survey. As we said above the survey was of only 2,001 people, which we think is hardly enough of a representation of everyone in the UK.
Secondly we are looking here at Android vs iPhone. Over 100 mobile phones run Android compared with Apple's few iPhone handsets , so of course there logically will be more Android users. However according to the survey only 2% more.
We think infact that this illustrates the strength of the Apple iPhone, one device up against a market of many.
